Hydrogenera and Stargate Hydrogen have signed a framework cooperation agreement to advance future collaboration in industrial hydrogen projects across Europe.
The agreement brings together two European hydrogen technology companies with complementary strengths. Hydrogenera contributes its expertise in alkaline electrolysis, electrolyser manufacturing, system engineering, integration, balance-of-plant design, and industrial project delivery. Stargate Hydrogen brings alkaline electrolyser stack technology and electrolysis know-how for selected opportunities.
The cooperation will benefit the next phase of industrial hydrogen adoption, where reliable technology, practical engineering, and long-term project execution are essential.
Under the agreement, the companies will explore selected opportunities related to alkaline electrolysis, hydrogen systems, and industrial project delivery. The cooperation is structured to support project-based collaboration, while both companies continue to operate independently.
Complementary strengths
Hydrogenera’s role covers the full chain from electrolyser technology and system design to integration, balance-of-plant engineering, project delivery, and industrial deployment. This experience is central to turning hydrogen production technology into complete systems that can operate reliably in real environments.
Stargate Hydrogen is an Estonian hydrogen technology company focused on alkaline electrolyser development. Its work supports green hydrogen production for industrial applications and contributes to the wider European hydrogen value chain.
The agreement allows both companies to combine their capabilities where this creates value for customers. Hydrogenera brings electrolyser expertise, system integration, and project delivery. Stargate Hydrogen brings complementary alkaline-stack technology and electrolysis experience to selected project requirements.
"We are pleased to make our next-generation alkaline electrolyser stacks available to system integrators across Europe through partnerships like this. Our stack technology combines high performance with a design that eliminates the need for precious metals, helping to lower costs and strengthen Europe's hydrogen supply chain. Hydrogenera has an excellent track record in delivering complete hydrogen systems, and we look forward to working together on a range of projects where our technologies complement each other," said Marko Virkebau, CEO of Stargate Hydrogen.
"Industrial hydrogen projects require more than strong individual technologies. They require complete systems that are engineered, integrated, and delivered for real operating conditions. This cooperation with Stargate Hydrogen allows us to combine complementary expertise in alkaline electrolysis with Hydrogenera’s capabilities in system engineering, manufacturing, and project delivery. It strengthens the way both companies can address selected industrial hydrogen opportunities across Europe,"commented Dragomir Ivanov, CEO of Hydrogenera.
Scope of the cooperation
The cooperation will focus on selected project opportunities where the capabilities of both companies are technically and commercially relevant.
This may include projects requiring alkaline electrolyser stack solutions, system integration support, and wider hydrogen system delivery. The companies may also review opportunities in industrial applications, consortium projects, demonstration activities, and other areas of the hydrogen sector.
The agreement provides a framework for long-term cooperation. Future projects, orders, or additional services will be agreed upon separately between the companies.
Cooperation overview
What does the agreement cover?
The agreement creates a framework for cooperation on selected industrial hydrogen opportunities in Europe. It combines complementary capabilities in alkaline electrolysis, system engineering, integration, and project delivery.
How is the cooperation structured?
The cooperation is project-based. Future projects, orders, and services will be agreed separately between the companies, depending on the technical and commercial requirements of each opportunity.
Do both companies remain independent?
Yes. Hydrogenera and Stargate Hydrogen remain independent companies. Each company continues to develop its own technology, products, commercial pipeline, and partnerships.
How does this fit Hydrogenera’s product portfolio?
Hydrogenera continues to develop, manufacture, and deliver its alkaline electrolysis systems. The agreement expands the company’s options for cooperation on selected projects where complementary technologies and joint expertise can create additional value.
Is the cooperation exclusive?
No. The agreement provides a framework for cooperation on selected opportunities. Both companies continue to pursue their own commercial strategies.
