The plant is powered by green electricity from a nearby wind farm and, if necessary, supported by the local electricity grid. Fest directly matches the capacity of the electrolyser to the power supply structure of the wind farm.
Fest GmbH will deliver a fully integrated solution for hydrogen production by 2024. The order comprises one standard gEL400 and one standard gEL600 water electrolyser each, including all peripheral equipment and the corresponding installation services. With a total nominal capacity of over 2 tpd, the electrolysers will provide for one of the largest hydrogen refuelling stations directly connected to a renewable energy plant from the end of 2024.
"We are looking forward to the realisation of this first green hydrogen refuelling station at a strategic location right next to the A7 motorway in Germany. With Fest GmbH, we have an electrolyser specialist at our side who will provide us with a solution tailored precisely to the conditions of the project," said ABO Wind Board Member, Dr. Jochen Ahn.
"The plant in Hünfeld is an important lighthouse project for the entire industry," added Raymond Schmid, VP Sales & BD at Fest GmbH. "Together with our partners at ABO Wind, we are proving how commercially successful hydrogen infrastructures can now be built in an economically sustainable way. With comprehensive hydrogen expertise and reliably operating systems that have been tested on the market."
