BriHyNergy has officially shipped its 15 MW PEM hydrogen production system to Europe. The project, located in Romania, will integrate renewable energy with PEM water electrolysis technology to enable large scale green hydrogen production. The shipment marks another important engineering milestone for BriHyNergy, demonstrating its capability to deliver MW-class integrated hydrogen production systems and further advancing the large scale deployment of PEM hydrogen technology.
Following the delivery of three 1 MW PEM Stacks to Europe in 2025, BriHyNergy has expanded its capabilities from supplying core materials and key equipment to delivering comprehensive green hydrogen system solutions. The 1 MW project includes integrated system engineering, core equipment supply and Balance of Plant (BOP) integration, providing a complete turnkey PEM hydrogen production system.
The project also marks BriHyNergy's first participation in a large-scale European green hydrogen project as a PEM hydrogen production system solution provider, while setting a new benchmark for the export of large scale PEM hydrogen production systems from China.
15 MW system architecture
The project consists of three hydrogen production systems, each with a capacity of 1000 Nm³/h (5 MW per system). Each system adopts a modular architecture in which one Balance of Plant (BOP) supports multiple BriLyzer® R-Series PEM Stacks, enabling independent operation of individual units while maintaining coordinated system-wide control.
Designed with high flexibility, the BriLyzer® R-Series PEM Stack platform supports hydrogen production capacities ranging from 200 - 600 Nm³/h per stack. Based on project-specific engineering requirements and lifecycle economics, BriHyNergy optimised the stack configuration to achieve the most cost-effective system design while balancing stack cost, system integration complexity and BOP scale.
The modular R-Series platform enables flexible system configuration by adjusting both stack quantity and stack capacity, providing a proven engineering approach for future hydrogen production projects ranging from MW scale installations to 100 MW-class facilities.
Delivering integrated solutions and core equipment
Over the years, BriHyNergy has established a comprehensive technology platform covering proton exchange membranes, membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) and PEM Stacks. Building upon these core technologies, the company has further strengthened its capabilities in integrated hydrogen production system engineering.
For the 15 MW project, BriHyNergy led the overall system engineering, including process optimisation, coordinated control strategies for multiple MW-class PEM Stacks operating under fluctuating renewable energy conditions, and dynamic load management to match variable renewable power generation.
Working closely with industry partners, BriHyNergy also completed power integration, gas-liquid separation, hydrogen purification equipment selection and overall system integration, ensuring full compliance with European project requirements and engineering standards.
The project adopted a collaborative delivery model in which BriHyNergy focused on system engineering, core equipment and control technologies, while its partners contributed expertise in BOP equipment, manufacturing and engineering implementation, enabling efficient delivery of a large scale integrated PEM hydrogen production system.
Romania project: validating system capabilities for the European market
The BriLyzer® R-Series PEM Stack has obtained CE certification, providing an important regulatory foundation for entry into the European market. Beyond regulatory compliance, however, large scale green hydrogen projects demand proven long-term operational reliability under fluctuating renewable energy conditions.
The inherent variability of wind and solar power places stringent requirements on stack response speed, wide-load operating capability and frequent start-stop performance. The BriLyzer® R-Series PEM Stack delivers high efficiency across a broad operating range and, together with BriHyNergy's advanced system control strategy, enables an integrated renewable power–hydrogen production–hydrogen storage solution.
The successful delivery of this 15 MW project – including three modular hydrogen production systems and cross-regional engineering execution – further demonstrates BriHyNergy's comprehensive capabilities in the design, integration and delivery of large scale PEM hydrogen production systems for the international market.
Looking ahead, BriHyNergy will continue strengthening collaboration with global energy developers, EPC contractors and industry partners to accelerate the development of the green hydrogen economy. Leveraging extensive experience gained from large-scale projects, the company will continue enhancing its product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities and engineering delivery expertise, providing internationally competitive PEM hydrogen production solutions while supporting the global scale-up of green hydrogen deployment.
