LIFTE H2 receives hydrogen rail contract

DB Energie has awarded LIFTE H2 the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a hydrogen production and refuelling facility in Mühldorf am Inn, Bavaria, supporting the decarbonisation of the Mühldorf–Burghausen rail corridor from December 2026 onwards.

This project reflects what hydrogen deployment at infrastructure scale actually requires: end-to-end system responsibility. LIFTE H2 is delivering the complete value chain as a single, integrated solution: covering on-site renewable hydrogen production, storage, compression, refuelling, automation, safety engineering, commissioning, and initial O&M.

Working alongside technology partners Resato Hydrogen Technology and IMI Process Automation, the company is closing the gap between electrolysis and train refuelling, with no interface ambiguities or contractual fragmentation.

For DB Energie, this means one accountable EPC partner from design through ramp-up. For the rail sector, it establishes a concrete reference for hydrogen at an operational scale, moving the technology from demonstration to repeatable infrastructure.
