Queensland Pacific Metals Ltd (Queensland Pacific Metals) has announced that it has executed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Edify Energy Pty Ltd (Edify Energy) regarding the supply of green hydrogen from Edify Energy’s planned large-scale, green hydrogen production facility, which will also be located within the Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct in Northern Australia.

Edify Energy is an Australian renewable energy and storage company with a diverse and rapidly expanding portfolio of assets. In December 2020, Queensland Pacific Metals and Edify Energy executed a separate Heads of Agreement relating to the potential supply of solar power from Edify Energy’s proposed Majors Creek Solar Power Station to the TECH Project.

Under the terms of the MoU, Edify Energy will supply and Queensland Pacific Metals will purchase:

  • 100 000 GJ/yr of pure, green hydrogen gas.
  • 4.2 x 106 nm3 of oxygen gas.
  • Up to approximately 4000 kL of wastewater.

This mutually beneficial relationship, underpinned by co-location in the Lansdown Eco-industrial Precinct, provides advantages for both parties:

  • Edify Energy receives a baseload customer to underpin the development of the hydrogen plant.
  • Edify Energy produces oxygen as a byproduct which can be used by Queensland Pacific Metals in the acid regeneration part of its flowsheet, instead of the oxygen being an unused byproduct.
  • Wastewater to be sold to Queensland Pacific Metals at competitive rates, which can be utilised by the company in its processing plant.
