The 220 MW ACES project in Utah, US, where HydrogenPro is the exclusive supplier of electrolysers, is nearing completion. This project is one of the world’s largest renewable hydrogen projects and is expected to have a significant impact on the power supply in California.
This was stated as HydrogenPro provided an update on the commissioning of its electrolyser delivery to ACES in Utah in connection with the presentation of its Q4 results. All 40 HydrogenPro electrolysers have operated at 100% load across all units.
“I am proud of HydrogenPro’s engagement in one of the largest hydrogen projects in the world, contributing to California’s clean energy supply. The entire project represents a groundbreaking technology”, said Jarle Dragvik, CEO of HydrogenPro.
Dragvik expressed strong satisfaction with the delivery. HydrogenPro’s electrolysers are fully operational and producing hydrogen.
“This project is a good example of our contribution to decarbonise the world”, he added.
The Advanced Clean Energy Storage Hub (ACES Delta) is jointly developed by Chevron New Energies Company and Mitsubishi Power. It is an industry and utility scale energy project that will produce, store, and deliver green hydrogen.
This project is designed to convert and store up to 100 tpd of green hydrogen, which will be stored in two huge salt caverns, each with a capacity of 150 GWh of energy for dispatch back to the grid when needed. The energy hub is expected to have a significant impact, with storage capacity two to three times greater than that of all US grid-connected batteries combined.
Commenting on the market, Dragvik shared: “There is broad market consensus on strong growth in clean hydrogen, with analysts estimating that it will reach 5.5 - 10 tpy by 2030. As market expectations improve, there is increasing focus on proven project delivery capability in a market where supply of low-cost green hydrogen is constrained. Once fully up and running, this project will give HydrogenPro a competitive advantage, strengthening our track record and serving as a critical factor in winning new contracts.”
