HNH Energy receives environmental approval

HNH Energy has announced that it has obtained the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) for its comprehensive green hydrogen and ammonia project in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, following unanimous approval by the Environmental Assessment Commission (COEVA). This result stems from the technical work carried out during the evaluation process before the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) of Magallanes, the regional authority responsible for its processing.
From the outset, the company opted to submit its entire value chain – wind farm, processing plant, desalination plant, and port infrastructure – to an environmental assessment in a single Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This decision allowed the environmental authority to evaluate the project comprehensively, considering all its interactions and cumulative effects.
The environmental assessment process lasted more than two years, within the context of the company's presence in the area for nearly four years. During this time, HNH Energy carried out continuous technical work and maintained a constant willingness to engage in dialogue with the authorities and the community, aiming to respond responsibly to the observations and challenges raised during the process.
Next steps
Obtaining the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) is a significant milestone that provides greater certainty for moving to the next stage of the project. From now on, HNH Energy will continue working to obtain the necessary sector-specific permits, along with the technical and commercial definitions required to further its development.
