OKQ8 has inaugurates its first full scale hydrogen filling station for heavy traffic in Sweden. The new station at Gasklockan in Gothenburg is the first in the country to be opened by a major fuel company.
"To achieve the climate goals, we need several alternative fuels. Hydrogen complements charging with electricity from wind and water and renewable diesel. This investment is therefore an important step in our work to transform the transport sector," said Karin Eriksson, CEO of OKQ8.
The new green hydrogen filling station at Gasklockan in Gothenburg is OKQ8's first in Sweden. It is also the first in the country to be opened by a major fuel company. The station has a capacity of at least 1500 kg/day, which corresponds to refuelling for around 20 large trucks.
The hydrogen station at Gasklockan is one of four that OKQ8 is opening together with Skellefteå Kraft and marks the start of an expansion of hydrogen infrastructure.
“Hydrogen is particularly important for heavy transport where electrification is not always possible. We want to make it easier for heavy transport to switch – regardless of whether it is through electricity, hydrogen or other renewable fuels,” commented Karin Eriksson, CEO of OKQ8.
The station was inaugurated on 2nd October 2 2025, by Ibrahim Baylan, former Minister of Energy and Industry, Morgan Larsson, CEO of Econ and Karin Eriksson, CEO of OKQ8.
