Together with Mannesmann Linepipe GmbH and Mannesmann Großrohr GmbH, Ontras Gastransport Gmbh has signed a contract for the supply of around 100 km of pipes. This is the largest single procurement in the company's history.

The pipes are needed for two new sections on the future transport connection between the Central German/Leipzig region and Salzgitter, the long-distance gas pipeline (FGL) 702. This is part of the Germany-wide hydrogen core network and is expected to reliably connect the region between Salzgitter and Angersdorf from December 2029.

New construction will include 67 km between Wefensleben (Börde) and Salzgitter and 34 km between Angersdorf (near Halle) and Preußlitz (Bernburg). The pipeline sections will be manufactured in European plants and delivered successively along the route from 2027.

"With the careful examination and selection of suppliers, we are taking an important step towards the completion of the SMA 702, which plays a key role in the hydrogen core network," explained Ralph Bahke, ONTRAS Managing Director Control and Development.

The planning approval procedures for the new construction sections will begin in 2026; According to current planning, construction is scheduled to start in 2027 or 2028.

With this award step, the company is strengthening the basis for a reliable hydrogen infrastructure in central and eastern Germany and making our contribution to the Germany-wide hydrogen core network.
