Hydrogen Utopia International PLC (HUI), a company converting non-recyclable mixed waste plastic, tyres and hazardous waste materials into hydrogen, carbon-free fuels, and new materials, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hydrogen Systems LLC (Hydrogen Systems), a Saudi-based hydrogen infrastructure developer and operator of Shell-branded hydrogen refuelling stations across the region.
Under the MoU, Hydrogen Systems will provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services and operations and management (O&M) support for HUI's planned facilities in Saudi Arabia to convert mixed waste and indestructible plastics into hydrogen.
The MoU builds on HUI's strategic collaboration with InEnTec Inc. (InEnTec). HUI holds an exclusive license to InEnTec's advanced plastic waste-to-hydrogen technology in the entire MENA region. This exclusivity positions HUI as the sole operator to deploy InEnTec's proprietary technology to convert challenging waste streams - indestructible mixed waste plastics, hazardous waste, medical waste, and tyres into sustainable hydrogen solutions. The partnership is intended to strengthen HUI's local execution capability, reduce delivery risk, and accelerate its ability to bring cutting-edge hydrogen projects to the Kingdom and wider region. It is expected that the MoU will support HUI's engagement with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), the Kingdom's national waste management entity, laying the groundwork for the intended deployment of its facilities and technology at scale.
Hydrogen Systems is a Saudi Arabia-based provider of hydrogen infrastructure and a developer of energy solutions across the region, with a strong emphasis on green hydrogen for mobility applications. The company provides comprehensive, end-to-end services, including engineering, procurement, construction, operations and management. With a history of delivering diverse hydrogen solutions, the company possesses deep expertise in scaling clean energy technology. This directly supports the long-term energy transition and decarbonisation targets outlined in the Kingdom's Vision 2030, serving as the EPC for the development of the world's largest hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, setting benchmarks for large scale deployment.
The MoU establishes a non-binding framework for collaboration and is expected to progress to definitive agreements as individual projects advance. HUI believes this partnership materially enhances local execution capability and supports the Kingdom's growing energy transition and sustainable hydrogen initiatives. Sattam Alsuwailem, Hydrogen Systems' CEO, said: "This collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing sustainable hydrogen solutions in Saudi Arabia. By combining Hydrogen Systems' regional EPC and O&M expertise with HUI's proven gasification technology and InEnTec's process innovation, we aim to deliver cutting-edge projects that convert waste into clean energy, supporting both environmental goals and economic growth."
Aleksandra Binkowska, CEO of Hydrogen Utopia International PLC, commented: "It is a privilege to be working with a partner as capable and experienced as Hydrogen Systems. Their strong boots-on-the-ground presence in Saudi Arabia and proven ability to deliver and operate hydrogen infrastructure give us real confidence as we move forward. It is also very important to me that their vision aligns closely with InEnTec's, HUI's, and our shared commitment to meeting the objectives and criteria of Saudi Vision 2030. Combined with our exclusive rights to InEnTec's plastic waste-to-hydrogen technology for Saudi Arabia and the wider region, this partnership puts us in a strong position to roll out this technology efficiently and responsibly."
Iman Ramani, Representative of Hydrogen Utopia International PLC in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, added: "This partnership represents a meaningful step forward for Hydrogen Utopia in Saudi Arabia. Hydrogen Systems' proven experience in delivering and operating hydrogen infrastructure across the GCC significantly strengthens our local capabilities. As we continue our engagement with SIRC, this collaboration enhances our ability to deploy high-quality waste-to-hydrogen facilities that align with the Kingdom's circular economy and net-zero objectives."
