StormFisher Hydrogen has announced that it has acquired Recyclage Carbone Varennes, following a court-approved process, to build North America’s first large scale low-carbon methanol plant. This flagship project is a major step forward in Québec’s energy transition journey.

By transforming RCV’s site, StormFisher Hydrogen aims to create a facility designed to:

  • Produce up to 72 000 tpy of low-carbon methanol starting in 2028, a critical sustainable fuel for maritime and aviation.
  • Capture and reuse 100 000 tpy of CO2, creating a valuable clean resource.
  • Deliver 75 jobs in Québec, while securing lasting economic and environmental benefits for the region.

This project is not just about sustainable energy and innovative infrastructure; it is also about people and collaboration. The company is working hand in hand with its Varennes team (formerly RCV), partners in Varennes, France, and local communities to build an impactful project that will position Québec and Canada as leaders in the energy transition.

Building a cleaner, more resilient energy future is at the core of StormFisher Hydrogen, and the Varennes project is a significant step in that direction.
