Linde LienHwa (LLH), together with CPC Corp., Taiwan, have announced the official launch of LLH's Tree Valley Demonstration Hydrogen Refuelling Station in Tainan and CPC's Nanzih Hydrogen Refuelling Station in Kaohsiung. LLH has equipped both stations with advanced technologies and systems from its joint-venture partner Linde, supported by local services and technical consulting.

Located inside LLH's hydrogen production plant of Tainan, the demonstration station is designed as a platform that connects government, industry, and academia to jointly advance hydrogen applications. Meanwhile, CPC's Nanzih station plays a critical role in enabling low-carbon hydrogen mobility in Taiwan, marking a new chapter on Taiwan's path toward net zero.

Hydrogen refuelling stations

According to a 2024 report by Research and Markets, the global hydrogen refuelling station (HRS) market is projected to grow from US$500 million in 2024 to US$1.8 billion by 2030, representing a CAGR of 23.8%. The report highlights that medium-sized stations are becoming the mainstream due to their technological maturity, operational stability, lower construction risk, and optimised resource utilisation. It also identifies policy and regulatory support as the primary drivers of HRS market growth.

Linde LienHwa Chairman Peter Owen emphasised that Taiwan must accelerate its transition to net zero – and hydrogen is indispensable to that journey.

A landmark partnership

LLH and CPC jointly advance hydrogen mobility infrastructure “Recognising Linde's leadership in hydrogen refuelling stations and LLH’s strong presence across Taiwan's hydrogen value chain, CPC decided to partner with LLH to build this landmark Nanzih HRS,” Jeng-Zen Fang, Chairman at CPC, stated. “With support from authorities and multiple partners, every step in this project became the first of its kind in Taiwan – each designed around uncompromising safety and performance to earn the trust of regulators and the public.” The newly launched CPC Nanzih HRS can serve up to seven hydrogen buses per day, supporting both 700 bar and 350 bar fuel cell vehicles.

Taiwan's first heavy-duty FCEV truck to join LLH's fleet

Christine Miao, Vice President of Corporate Communications at LLH, noted that the company operates one of the largest industrial gas tanker fleets in Taiwan. The nation's first heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell truck, imported by LLH, will join the fleet once regulatory inspections and capacity validation are completed. “This will help stakeholders better understand how fuel cell vehicles can meet heavy-duty, long-haul, and high-payload transportation needs,” Miao said. “We also hope authorities will introduce hydrogen mobility plans for a wider range of vehicle categories to encourage innovation and accelerate low-carbon applications.”

Two HRS stations built with Linde's technology

Both Taiwan's first two operational hydrogen refuelling stations adopt advanced technologies from Linde, LLH's joint-venture partner.

Key advantages include:

  • Rugged, proven compressor and equipment performance.
  • Compact footprint.
  • Modular and scalable design.
  • High flexibility to adjust capacity.
  • Compliance with international certifications and safety standards.

This makes the system highly suitable for Taiwan's early-stage hydrogen mobility development, enabling efficient, economical deployment that meets global benchmarks and accelerates decarbonisation progress.

LLH Tree Valley Demonstration HRS: a platform for multi-party collaboration

The fully certified Demonstration Hydrogen Refuelling Station operates on a non-profit basis, allowing flexible, project-based collaboration among stakeholders. Jeffery Shan, LLH Vice President, Head of Merchant & Clean Energy, highlighted that the station's modular, fully automated, and high-safety design enables rapid capacity adjustments and can be relocated to other sites as needed, significantly simplifying operational workflows.
