Global Hydrogen Review,
Trillium Flow Technologies™, a provider of engineered flow control solutions, has achieved TÜV SÜD certification for its Blakeborough® control valves, designed for industrial hydrogen applications. This achievement highlights Trillium’s steadfast dedication to delivering quality, safety, and reliability to support the energy transition.
The TÜV SÜD certification validates the Blakeborough® control valves’ compliance with stringent international standards, including ISO 15848-1, BS EN IEC 60534-4, and ISO 19880-3. These standards emphasise superior durability, precision, and safety under demanding conditions. Rigorous testing with 99.9% pure hydrogen at both cryogenic and ambient temperatures confirmed the valves’ positive performance, meeting endurance Class A CO1 and CC1 stem leakage requirements, and ensuring compliance with stringent fugitive emission standards.
“Our TÜV SÜD-certified hydrogen valves represent a significant leap forward in supporting the global energy transition,” said Steve Brayley, Managing Director of Global Valves at Trillium. This achievement demonstrates our expertise in delivering ‘performance-engineered’ solutions tailored to the unique challenges of hydrogen production, storage, and transportation.”
Blakeborough® control valves are designed to address the critical needs of hydrogen applications, including:
- Production and storage: supporting hydrogen purification, pressurisation, and liquefaction processes.
- Transportation and distribution: ensuring safety and reliability for hydrogen transfer and storage systems.
- Advanced material compatibility: robust metallic, elastomeric, and thermoplastic components tested to withstand extreme temperatures and hydrogen exposure.
Hydrogen is central to achieving net zero carbon goals, serving as a versatile energy carrier for applications ranging from industrial processes to long-distance transportation. Trillium’s Blakeborough® control valves offer unmatched reliability in these critical applications, bolstering operational efficiency and reducing emissions across the hydrogen value chain.
“This certification is more than just recognition – it is a testament to the collaboration and dedication of our teams in engineering, supply chain, quality assurance, and operations,” added Graham Ellis, General Manager and Commercial Operations Director. “Together, we have set a new benchmark for hydrogen valve performance and reliability.”
