Global Hydrogen Review,
This makes Deutsche ReGas the first German company to be selected for the European Hydrogen Bank auction. A total of 15 projects from five different countries, which will produce hydrogen from renewable energy sources, were awarded. The total funding for the European Hydrogen Bank auction, held for the second time, amounts to €992 million, or nearly €1 billion.
With this funding, the EU aims to advance the decarbonisation of industry, accelerate the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy, and simultaneously reduce dependence on fossil fuels on the continent.
Overall, hydrogen production at Deutsche ReGas's Lubmin H2 hub can avoid emissions of 1.628 million t of CO2 within 10 years. Deutsche ReGas can thus make a significant contribution to decarbonisation and a sustainable German industry.
Ingo Wagner, Managing Partner of Deutsche ReGas, said: “From the very beginning, it was our goal to secure energy supplies and, at the same time, to drive the energy transition. The selection of our project for funding from the EU Innovation Fund confirms our plans for the Lubmin site and is an important step toward the realisation of the project. It also demonstrates the strength of the Deutsche ReGas team, as a medium-sized company in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, in bringing energy projects to implementation maturity.”
