Tenaris delivers storage system to Oman

Tenaris has completed the delivery of its THera® hydrogen storage system for Oman’s first green hydrogen refuelling station, developed by Hydrogen Systems, a Saudi Arabia-based provider of hydrogen technologies across the Middle East. The new facility, located near Muscat International Airport, will support a fleet of hydrogen-fuelled taxis operated by Mwasalat, the Sultanate’s national transport company.
“We selected Tenaris for its proven expertise in high-pressure storage systems and its strong track record in hydrogen fuelling applications,” said Sattam Alsuwailem, CEO of Hydrogen Systems. “Partnering with a trusted supplier like Tenaris helps us minimise execution risks and ensures we can deliver complex hydrogen infrastructure projects on schedule and within budget.”
Featuring nine THera® storage vessels (eight rated at 1034 bar and one at 550 bar), the station is designed to produce up to 130 kg/day of green hydrogen, enabling daily operations for 15 zero-emission vehicles. In addition to hydrogen fuelling, the site will offer EV fast-charging and conventional fuelling, serving as a multi-energy hub aligned with Oman’s sustainability agenda.
The Oman station is part of a broader effort to position the country as a regional leader in green hydrogen. The Sultanate’s has set an ambitious goal to produce 1.2 million tpy of green hydrogen by 2030 across eight major projects.
