In this Global Hydrogen Review Spotlight Interview, Daniel Patrick, Market Segment Manager for LNG & Hydrogen at Atlas Copco Gas and Process, joins us to explore his article that featured in the Autumn 2025 issue of Global Hydrogen Review magazine
Titled ‘Enabling the hydrogen shipping revolution’, this article considers how centrifugal compressor technology is being scaled to support liquid hydrogen carriers and help manage boil-off gas (BOG) during transport.
Daniel outlines why liquid hydrogen is emerging as a leading vector for intercontinental hydrogen transport, and explains why BOG handling is so critical aboard liquid hydrogen carriers.
We also discuss the lessons learned from the Suiso Frontier pilot project – the world’s first purpose-built liquid hydrogen carrier, and consider some of the key technical challenges of designing compressors for liquid hydrogen temperatures.
