Honeywell Forge Plantwide Optimizer is the world’s first closed-loop dynamic optimisation solution. Devised as a novel type of Primary Advanced Process Control (APC) controller, it inherits a yield-property model from the planning layer and acquires operating constraints from the secondary APC layer driving true sitewide optimisation in a closed-loop. This effectively addresses a long-existing gap between planning and control as the plan generated is often not the one implemented.
This paper examines those impacts and how to incorporate a plantwide optimisation solution to ensure the resulting functions contribute to the profitability of the plant.
