Sinopec wins engineering contract for Saudi Arabian project

China’s Sinopec has agreed to form a joint venture with Spanish company, Technicas Reunidas, to provide engineering services for a large scale green hydrogen and ammonia project in Yanbu City, Saudi Arabia.

Sinopec has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) convertible contract for the project by ACWA Power, which will be put into commercial operation in 2030, producing 400 000 tpy of green hydrogen and 2.8 million t of green ammonia with wind and solar power. This will effectively promote the scale-up and application of green hydrogen and green ammonia technologies, contributing to the global energy transition.
