Fives launches 100% hydrogen duct burner

Fives has launched its first 100% hydrogen duct burner, The Hy-Ductflam™, marking a key step towards the decarbonisation of heating and drying processes.
The Hy-Ductflam™, enables customers to switch fuels from 100% natural gas to 100% hydrogen, without any changes made to the equipment.
Providing high efficiency and mechanical reliability, the hydrogen duct burner is suitable for any duct configuration. It can be installed both in new installations and as a replacement of standard duct burners, therefore limiting costs for manufacturers.
Francesco Giudici, General Manager at Fives ITAS, said: “Fives is at the forefront of hydrogen development and offers a range of hydrogen compatible burners. We are proud to provide a new solution that answers the need for decarbonisation.”
The technology is mainly dedicated to drying application in ceramic, minerals and pulp, but could be extended to other applications such as heat recovery boilers.
